Notes

Power dissipated in the ballast must be added to the lamp rating to obtain the total power consumption.
LEDs are now being used for vehicle stop lights, traffic lights, flashlights (torches), night-lights, etc.
Mercury vapor streetlights are being replaced by HPS or LPS to eliminate the use of mercury which is a hazardous substance and in part due to the horrible greenish light quality.

HPS = High Pressure Sodium (Designed for outdoor use. Expensive and take several minutes to start)
LPS = Low Pressure Sodium (Designed for outdoor use. Expensive and take several minutes to start)
